Our Breed
Our Breed is a combination of many different breeds. We have the wild dogs of Africa which are the Hottentot dogs as a base - that is where our ridge comes from. Also included in the make up of our breed is English pointers, Greyhounds, Deerhounds, Foxhounds and Mastiffs, among others.
History of our Breed
The Ridgebacks purpose was a dangerous one, as they were faster and more accurate than an arrow. They supported warriors in tribal battles and cooperated with hunters on group hunts. They were also favored because they were very loyal dogs that guarded and protected.

Ridgebacks today aren't that much different. The humans who own them are! In order to satisfy a Ridgeback's natural instincts, many people Lure course and hunt. They are still very loyal dogs that guard and protect.
